Be truthful
- Don’t approve or submit information you know is false or misleading: degrees, employers, titles, dates, results, metrics, publications, awards, licences or references.
- Don’t upload forged or altered documents, or ask us to add claims your documents don’t support.
- Don’t submit other people’s work as your own: what you submit must be yours or properly credited.
Apply as yourself
- Don’t impersonate anyone or misrepresent your connection to a person or organisation.
- Don’t apply on someone else’s behalf unless they have agreed. A coach, parent or assistant helping someone must have that person’s documented consent, and the person must be able to see what is sent in their name.
- Don’t upload other people’s personal data unless you have the right to — for example, someone else’s identity documents or a referee’s private details.
No spam
- Outreach must be personal and relevant to the person receiving it. No bulk email, no bought or scraped mailing lists, and no messages to people who asked not to be contacted.
- Don’t try to get around our limits — for example with several accounts, or by sending the same message again and again.
- Respect replies: a “no” is a no.
Respect other platforms
- Don’t ask us to get around CAPTCHAs, logins, paywalls, rate limits or a platform’s terms. We won’t, and trying may get your account suspended.
- Don’t use Onward Scout to apply where you are banned or ineligible, or to flood an organisation with duplicate applications.
Don’t misuse our service
- No scraping, crawling or bulk downloading of onwardscout.com, its opportunity library or the app, and no automated access except through features we provide.
- No attempts to access other people’s data, to probe or break our security, to overload our systems or to interfere with how the service works.
- No malware, and nothing illegal, hateful, harassing, sexually exploitative or discriminatory in anything you submit or send.
Found a security issue? Please report it to contact@onwardscout.com and give us a chance to fix it before you share it.
Minors
If you are under 18, use Onward Scout with a parent or guardian, as described in the terms. Outreach email is not available to minors.
If these rules are broken
We may pause outreach or submissions, remove content, or suspend or close the account involved, and we may report illegal activity to the authorities. Where it’s reasonable, we will explain why and give you a chance to put things right.
Report a problem
If you received an email you didn’t want from someone using Onward Scout, or you see misuse, write to contact@onwardscout.com. We add your address to our do-not-contact list, so no Onward Scout user can email you through us again, and we look into what happened.
